Christie Dasinger Knowles was born in Decatur, Georgia. During her childhood, her parents moved to Jacksonville, Alabama, where she lived throughout her childhood.

After graduating from Jacksonville High School, Mrs. Knowles attended Jacksonville State University. At JSU, she was active in student life and student affairs. She served as a Student Government Senator. She pledged and was initiated into Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was a member of the first pledge class of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, Delta Epsilon Chapter, and served as the president of that class. As a senior, she was honored with Greek Woman of the Year for Jacksonville State University. Mrs. Knowles also was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha honor societies and was named as a Who's Who Among Students in American Universities. She graduated in 1994 with a B.A. degree in Political Science and later that same year entered the University of Alabama School of Law.

While in law school, she was honored to be inducted in the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society. Mrs. Knowles also served as Managing Editor of the Law & Psychology Review and was published in that journal as well. Her article, Students for Sale: The Regulation of Televised Commercial Advertising in Public Schools, was published in 1996 and was subsequently republished in Advertising Law Anthology. She was also a founding member and officer of the Dorbin Society, an organization dedicated to professionalism and excellence among women attending the University of Alabama School of Law. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1997.

After graduation, Mrs. Knowles served as a staff attorney for the Honorable William E. Robertson, Presiding Judge, Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, Montgomery, Alabama. After this one-year clerkship with Judge Robertson, she returned to northeast Alabama. Mrs. Knowles joined Henslee, Robertson & Strawn, LLC, in 1997, and was subsequently named a partner in that firm in less than four years. Mrs. Knowles remained at that firm until 2006, when she joined her husband, who is also an attorney, to form Knowles Law Firm, LLC. In January 2009, Knowles Law Firm, LLC, merged with Cusimano, Keener, Roberts & Raley, P.C., to form Cusimano, Keener, Roberts, Knowles & Raley, LLC.

Mrs. Knowles has always believed that lawyers should serve as role models in their communities and has carried out this belief through actively serving Etowah County. Mrs. Knowles has served on the Board of Directors of Gadsden Commercial Development Authority, The Chamber of Gadsden and Etowah County, Gadsden Industrial Development Authority, Etowah County United Way, Kiwanis Club of Gadsden, Etowah-Gadsden Cultural Alliance, The Barrie Center for Children, and Gadsden Symphony Orchestra. She has been honored to serve in officer positions with many of these organizations as well. Mrs. Knowles was chosen to serve on the Board of Advisors for the Alabama Small Business Development Consortium, an organization which oversees the Small Business Development Centers located at each of Alabama's universities. She has also served as an adjunct professor of business law at her alma mater, Jacksonville State University.

Mrs. Knowles has been a member of many legal and professional organizations, including the Alabama State Bar, the Etowah County Bar Association, and the Etowah County Inns of Court. She is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama, and Alabama Supreme Court. She has many published opinions from cases in which she was lead counsel in the Alabama Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mrs. Knowles is married to Jason Knowles of Alexander City, Alabama. She and Jason have two children, Caroline and Jay. They are members of First United Methodist Church, Gadsden, Alabama.
